2013 Launch of Kickstand Sessions: bicycle planning master class
exactly to make a city friendly to bicycles. Experts from Mobycon and Danish partner, Copenhagenize Design Co. are touring North America teaching a bicycle planning master class meant to inspire planners, politicians, cycling advocates and other champions of liveable communities with lessons learned in The Netherlands and Denmark.
This week, Kickstand launches its 2013 tour with a visit to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The master classes offer a comprehensive approach covering the topics of planning, marketing, policy and culture all of which Kickstand trainers have found are integral to making cycling a daily reality. The classes are unique in that they offer a dynamic approach, allowing participants to learn through doing. Workshops and presentations by participants are integrated into the class along with discussions, lectures and small group exercises.
Mobycon CEO and Founder, Johan Diepens and Senior Consultant Angela van der Kloof lead these sessions along with Mikael Colville-Andersen and Mary Hudson Embry of Copenhagenize Design Co. Johan is a traffic and transport engineer with extensive experience designing bicycle networks in The Netherlands and consulting on the subject abroad. Angela van der Kloof has a background in adult education and human geography and shares her expertise in sustainable mobility and behaviour change through the classes.
More cities in Canada and the United States are being added to the rooster. For information about the classes visit the website http://copenhagenize.eu/kickstand/, or contact Johan Diepens firstname.lastname@example.org or Angela van der Kloof email@example.com directly.
